The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) has formally opened the 2025 application process.
Applications are now open and will shut on fifteen December 2024.
*** Who qualifies for NSFAS funding
To qualify for NSFAS funding, an applicant will have to satisfy the following criteria:
• Be considered a South African citizen or copyright who comes from a house which has a combined gross domestic earnings that does not exceed R350 000 per annum.
• Individuals with disabilities qualify if their combined household income will not exceed R600 000 per annum.
• SASSA recipients automatically qualify for funding and need not post any evidence of income.
*** Loan Scheme for the Missing Middle
The NSFAS Loan Scheme for the missing middle is open to all South African citizens and permanent citizens from households with combined R350 000 nsfas 2025 and R600 000 per annum.

NSFAS only funds people who are learning or plan to study in a public university or TVET college in South Africa.
All students who wish to study in any of the public universities and TVET colleges click here should apply timeously and not to wait until the last day.
Learners do not have to wait for matric results to apply for NSFAS. They should apply now and avoid delays in the processing of their application.
